There are plenty of people with ideas or theories. But no one can give you a definitive answer, until now. Thanks to Facebook’s new Insights you can finally find out what the best time to post to Facebook is for you and your page.
How to find out when the best time to post to Facebook is.
View your Facebook page and click on the settings button (looks like a cog) and choose ‘View Insights’.
If you haven’t upgraded to the new Facebook Insights you will be given the option to upgrade. You will need to if you want to find out when the best time to post to your Facebook Page is.
Once you have done that you will be taken to the overview page. Which will show you all kinds of interesting statistics such as the number of likes your page has, your reach, engagement and more.
Ignore this for now (but we certainly recommend having a look around). Select the ‘Posts’ tab at the top of the page. You will be taken to the ‘All Posts Published’ tab. Which will show your posts and what kind of engagement and reach they received.
Select ‘When your fans are online’ from the sub navigation. This will take you to a page where you can see a graph showing when your fans saw posts hour by hour from the past seven days.
You will see seven blocks for each day of the week. Which when clicked on place a dark blue line over the graph showing how the times people are online changes by day.
As it only shows the past seven days it’s worth checking this graph once a week. To make sure the average times fans see your posts doesn’t drastically change.
There are plenty of articles on the internet giving you a rough guideline based on research. And the conclusion is always that you should test it yourself to find out when the best time for you to post is. Facebook’s new Insights takes some of the hassle and guesswork out of this for you. By showing you exactly when your fans are online.
It’s definitely worth having a poke around the new Insights. As they contain information which can really help you make the best out of your Facebook Page.
The Best Posts tab is very interesting. And although we know that generally images and video should produce the best engagement rates. It’s nice to see it backed up with statistics based on our own Facebook Pages.
