The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) predict that for every dollar spent on email marketing, it will bring in $39.40, which works out as a return of £24.84 for every 63 pence spent on it.

Why don’t people use email marketing campaigns?

Many people are put off email marketing by the idea that it’s too good to be true. ‘How can something with such low costs generate such a high return on investment?’
We are all constantly being told that people don’t want to read emails. They’ll be deleted without ever being read and people are bored with emails. That’s not true; people are bored by boring emails.

Why do email marketing campaigns work?

If a person has signed up to your email list, that means they are interested in your company and they want to hear from you. So you aren’t wasting money targeting people who aren’t interested.
You can target emails to remind customers about you and your products/service. For example, asking them to review a product a few weeks after they purchased something, or send them emails with content they may be interested in based on what they have previously purchased.

So, what makes a good email marketing campaign?

A good email needs an interesting subject line to entice a reader. The content then must be equally as interesting and provide the reader with some value.
Emails don’t just have to sell something; they can also be used to keep people updated with what you and your company have been up to recently or new products.
You could also tell people about new products or events on the horizon and share knowledge and information to show that you know what you’re talking about.
