(2nd May 2014) – Hugh Grant unveiled the Burntwood and District Community First Responders (CFRs) new rapid response vehicle at a packed marquee at Burntwood Rugby Club.
Before the launch Burntwood CFR Chairman, Paul Dadge, gave a short speech. Explaining how he was inspired to join the Burntwood CFRs after coming across a car crash in Cannock.
A few short speeches were made by key supporters. Including Sir Graham Meldrum, Chairman of the West Midlands Ambulance Service and Doctor Anthony Marsh, Chief Executive of the West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Actor Hugh Grant then took to the stage and gave a speech before unveiling the new car and declaring it ‘responsive’.
“It’s very nice to be here. I’ve never done any kind of opening before. I’m enjoying it already.” Grant said.
“He’s [Paul Dadge] been on and on at me for years trying to get my help.”
“I have done absolutely nothing about it. The least I can do is undress this car for him.”
“It’s amazing to think that car will save lots of lives.”
We had a nice surprise when the Burntwood CFR Chairman Paul Dadge, called us up on stage. Where Grant presented us with an award for the work we’ve done to help the CFRs.
A great time was had all round. The food was delicious and we had the opportunity to meet some lovely people, including Hugh!
It’s always nice to see our local business community coming together. Especially to support a worthy cause and we will continue to support the CFRs in the future.
If you’re interesting in finding out more about the hard work the Burntwood CFRs do follow them on Twitter and Facebook, where you can also find out when they’re next holding their next fundraising event.
Here are a couple of our pictures from the event.
